As you can see, Pat's nickname was Mr. Clutch. He recieved this nickname due to his ability on the drag racing track. He was the NHRA's Drag Racer of the year for 1983 and 1985. He later starred in his own drag racing TV show with his family which involved his family racing team (Team Tabler) consisting of his wife and kids in which he solved crimes with the help of his talking car Drag Racer.
